About Jo
When I am asked how I became so lucky as to author a preschool curriculum, I often tell the story of how I followed my husband’s career around the country, teaching in the states of Michigan, Illinois, and California. After years of marvelous teaching adventures, I decided that I wanted to find a job that would move with me more easily. I am pleased to report that I found more than a job—I found a passion.
No one is luckier than me. I’ve spent the last 14 years serving teachers and children carefully crafting story, song, and guided lessons—using my creativity and knowledge of the classroom to educate and inspire.
One particular highlight was the two years that I spent with Fred Rogers of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and his fine colleagues at Family Communications, Inc. During 1995 and 1996, I had the honor of editing twelve books that made up the Grow and Learn with Mister Rogers series. I recently heard that the books are back in print, and I couldn’t be more proud. Opportunities such as this have led me to Robert-Leslie Publishing and the development of The InvestiGator Club Prekindergarten Learning System—my shining career achievement to date.
As I present our comprehensive curriculum to parents, caregivers, teachers, and administrators throughout the United States I consistently hear, “It’s so complete—you and Beth thought of everything!” This statement is quite a compliment, but I want everyone to know that I feel like there is even more to think of, even more to do. And this blog is one more part of “everything.” It’s in this little piece of cyberspace that I hope to share more activities, more thoughts, more insights—more of “everything,” with the aim of making the lives of teachers a little easier and making the lives of children a little more meaningful and fun. Please comment and add your own ideas. I look forward to it—together we can add to “everything” and make better the lives of young children everywhere.
